The Main Company were thrilled to be a part of this project, a nose-to-tail restaurant located in the vibrant neighbourhood of Shoreditch in London. In-house meat-curing, hand-rolled pasta, meat cooked over a wood fire and an energetic dining ambience are some of the things you will find at Manteca, Shoreditch.
Manteca is a collaboration between David Carter (Smokestak founder) and Chris Leach (ex Petersham Nurseries). They both share an enthusiasm for dining that is high in energy and quality. Manteca was founded just before the pandemic, this allowed them to plan and pursue their idea initially in a semi-permanent spot in Soho, which proved to be rather popular. The wait for reservations ran six weeks deep ahead of it arriving in Shoreditch.
The sculpted pig’s head that hangs above Manteca’s entrance is indicative of its menu and nose-to-tail concept. The interiors of this stunning space have been done Box 9 Design, it was a pleasure working with Lou Davies and their team. The Main Company supplied the cladding throughout the space, We used engineered planks to bring out the minimal aesthetic the client had in mind. The muted tones of white and beige paired well with our weathered oak raw lacquer wood creating a perfect backdrop for the show stopping food!
Our wood is beautifully hand aged, each and every plank has been meticulously handcrafted at our Yorkshire workshop, enhancing the stunning patina, original cracks and knots. Imperfections have been celebrated, adding charm and character. The planks have been finished with a lacquer, creating a durable product that will withstand years of wear and tear in commercial and residential settings.
