Nando’s is a much-loved South African restaurant chain that specialises in Portuguese food, such as peri-peri style chicken dishes. Founded in Johannesburg in 1987, they now have over 1,000 outlets in 35 countries.
Nando’s pride themselves on being ‘green’ and their sustainable restaurants. From ethically sourced food, to 100% renewable electricity supplies, everything has been well thought out. It doesn’t just stop there, Nando’s ensure that all their restaurants are as eco-friendly as possible and created using sustainable materials, as reinforced by their sustainable fit guide that they adhere to when creating new outlets. Filled with vibrant colours, rustic woods and an exciting mix of old and new, their new design pays homage to their South African heritage.
At The Main Company we were delighted to be involved in the creation of their new Addlestone restaurant. We too are passionate about sustainable materials, all of our wood is sourced from interesting buildings and has been meticulously handcrafted, giving it a new lease of life within residential or commercial projects.
Our Weathered Mill Board was used throughout the Addlestone restaurant, complementing the heritage of Nando’s and enhancing other features such as the rustic leather seating and industrial style ceiling. Our Weathered Mill Board is a fantastic product which can be used in any space to create a rustic and natural feel. The boards have been salvaged from old mills throughout the United Kingdom, the deep structured surface of the cladding creates a wonderful aesthetic.
Not only did we supply the cladding for the Addlestone restaurant, we also created bespoke wooden wall tiles, creating a spectacular feature wall that can be seen as soon as you enter. The bespoke wall tiles, perfectly capture the heritage and ambience of the space, sitting alongside South African art, patterned tabletops and booth seating. The tiles feature a pattern, creating the illusion of texture and depth.
A classic colour option, this natural option is a sustainable choice. The natural, low shine finish makes it durable and easy to maintain. Character and authenticity flows throughout and is further complemented by additional features such as markings. All wood is kiln dried at our Yorkshire workshop, removing excess moisture and creating a stable product, ideal for the footfall of a busy space like Nando’s.
