This project embodies a seamless convergence of rugged, industrial aesthetics and refined design. Featuring exposed walls, wood cabinets, and concrete worktops, this kitchen showcases our take on minimalistic design.
It was a pleasure working with the team at Vatraa Architecture, who designed the kitchen. Textured exposed walls were the perfect canvas for this kitchen, embracing the imperfections. Wood cabinets, carefully hand-finished in our Yorkshire workshop, stand as the focal point, infusing the space with a warmth. The wood used in this project is our stained engineered wood.
The concrete worktops introduce an industrial edge that complements the raw nature of the surroundings. The juxtaposition of the cool, sleek concrete against the warmth of the wood cabinets establishes a captivating visual balance. Innovative in its design, the cabinets are handeless. Small nooks strategically placed provide a grip that is both practical and stylish. This subtle detail enhances the overall aesthetic while maintaining the clean lines and minimalistic charm.
The design philosophy of this kitchen revolves around simplicity and functionality. Open shelving becomes both a practical storage solution and an aesthetic choice, putting everyday essentials on display. The curated selection of kitchenware by the client becomes a part of the decor, creating an ambiance that is as inviting as it is effortlessly chic. We selected Fisher and Paykel for the integrated refrigerator and oven along with the sleek Nikola Tesla hob from Elica. This hob was the perfect choice for a modern home like this, the built-in extractor avoids the bulky look of a hood above the hob seen in more traditional homes.
Breaking down traditional barriers, the design blurs the lines between the cooking and dining spaces. The fluidity between kitchen and dining enhances the overall functionality and sociability of the space.
