At The Main Company, we are passionate about creating beautiful kitchens that really are the hub of the home and this stunning kitchen is no different. This young family wanted to create a space that could be enjoyed and was both stylish and practical.
Set in the historic city of York, this characterful home boasts an array of rustic features such as an exposed brick chimney breast. This was taken in to account during the design process, and many original features were retained and complemented by various additions to the space. The previous kitchen was dark and tired, with red quarry tiles and this was something that the homeowners wanted to move away from. The dream was to create a light, airy, and spacious kitchen, something that was definitely achieved.
Recycled timber shelving, reclaimed freight-train wagon board worktops and hand-cut subway style rectangular tiles allowed The Main Company to create a truly unique kitchen for the homeowners, using a variety of reclaimed materials. Using the space available to its full potential, The Main Company created stunning cream shaker style cabinetry, that was paired with added high-level storage cupboards and open shelving. Making the most of the space available, the built-in storage comprises of cupboards, shelves and pullout drawers.
The open shelving paired with the natural materials creates a warm, welcoming environment, further complemented by the addition of greenery and mason jars. There’s also an abundance of practical additions to the kitchen, including a stainless steel Belfast sink and food preparation area that provides a wonderful contrast to the predominance of wooden worktops.
The Main Company can also create bespoke furniture to complement any space. In this instance, a matching dining table and sideboard were the perfect additions to the space, tying in the dining room and creating a feeling of continuity throughout.
The Main Company is passionate about high quality, reclaimed materials and all our reclaimed wood is hand-crafted at our workshop in the heart of Yorkshire. Our on-site design team and master craftsmen, allow us to bring our customers’ visions to life.
