Bespoke Kitchen Project 20 - Moor Green

This six bedroom suburban detached house built in the 1930’s has made its way through the family and is a very special home to this family of five. As part of an entire home renovation, the owners of the Moor Green kitchen had an opportunity to transform the style and design of their new kitchen to suit their lifestyle. Set in the heart of the home, the kitchen was carefully considered to balance modern elements with a classic look.

Embracing the open-plan layout, a long island was designed to ensure a smooth transition between the separate areas of the kitchen, with floating reclaimed wood shelving creating a feature from the empty wall space. Custom storage solutions include slim built-in shelving for the owner’s collection of cookery books and spices, as well as appliance cupboards to keep the worktops clear and the kitchen looking its best.

Shaker-style cabinets are painted in neutral tones to introduce warmth, whilst maintaining the light and airy feel of the surrounding space. Painted in our favourite, the Little Greene Paint’s colours, True Taupe and Grey Moss, this Main Company cabinetry is beautiful and light. The long island and surrounding fitted seating and dining area are painted in a slightly darker tone of paint – forming a lovely subtle contrast in this bright space. An off-white quartz ‘Bianco Drift’ worktop is a lovely choice of worktop so suit the aesthetic of the kitchen.

The Moor Green kitchen features a hob that sits flush in the worktop on the island – a request of our clients to keep things hidden and subtle in this inspiring open plan interior. In-keeping with this clean and simple design, the fridge freezer is fitted within large cabinet doors.

This bespoke kitchen embraces the Velux windows which bring in the natural light. The Main Company’s fitted seating area located close to the kitchen, includes a wooden oak top, provides the perfect place to relax and unwind to allow this family to entertain whilst preparing meals. The seating area, is made up of bespoke painted cabinetry to fit perfectly in the space. Making the most of the space the cabinets provide an area for storage underneath the seats and along the wall leading to the rest of the kitchen units.
