Surrounded by the gorgeous Cornish landscape and sea, this beautiful, partially restored farmhouse was transformed into a bright, modern holiday home. Working closely with the Designer and Project Manager for two years, The Main Company had a major role in the development of this fantastic building, providing reclaimed engineered wall cladding, flooring (including Versailles flooring), fitted furniture and a bespoke kitchen. The property also has an annex cottage, which includes Main Company flooring, a smaller kitchen and vanity units.
The Main Company utilised the kitchen and dining room open-plan space to create a beautiful kitchen that combines the family’s love of entertaining and dining; from wall cladding and flooring, to a stunning kitchen where timeless shaker meets rustic. Painted in Little Greene’s Basalt blue, there are two large Main Company pantry units with softened shaker doors and a housed Fisher & Paykel fridge freezer. Reclaimed cupboards with a concrete worktop run alongside the main kitchen wall with a fabulous Lacanche range cooker.
Featuring original reclaimed materials, that are hundreds of years old, including wooden beams, Cornish stone and brick walls, the kitchen area was designed to blend in seamlessly with the rest of the property and its rural surrounding. The chunky island with an aged copper top, smooth painted cabinets and concrete sink takes centerstage in the kitchen. The pine bar was restored from reclaimed wood taken from a chapel, this surrounds the aged copper top – perfect for serving cocktails!
The Basalt blue kitchen cabinetry creates the perfect sense of dark and moody, contrasted with the light natural tones of the surrounding oak island bar and oak cabinetry. Oak is a prominent feature in this kitchen, oak lines the internal carcasses and reclaimed oak is used for shelving units. With each piece of timber revealing its own engineered unique character and markings, this kitchen really embraces the beauty of the reclaimed wood, combined with a solid concrete worktop.
Around the new property you are welcomed by stunning Main Company products, our reclaimed wall cladding makes a gorgeous raw feature wall in the entrance hall, a huge dining area and in some of the bedrooms. Our Main Company reclaimed weathered barn board flooring is found in many areas of the property. The barn board covers the walls and flooring of the games room, turning this space in to a relaxed, homely environment – perfect for some family fun and games! In most bathrooms we provided vanity units that are tailor-made to fit seamlessly within each room, differing from modern painted units to rustic reclaimed oak with marble tops.
The Main Company were devoted to the success of this design. This project incorporates all of what The Main Company has to offer, exemplifying the rustic nature and unique, bespoke style of their wooden flooring options, furniture and kitchens.
