Dark Navy Shaker Kitchen
Having lived in their 1930s semi-detached house in Northampton for seven years, owners Jeni and Jim Davis had long dreamt of renovating their kitchen whilst increasing the size of their home from three bedrooms to five. As part of an overall extension, the new Main Company kitchen was to sit within an L-shaped space at the rear of the property. The couple, having previous experience in remodelling three kitchens, had a clear vision of exactly what they were looking for.
In August 2017, 13 stressful months after starting the renovation process, the owners found themselves on the search for a new company to bring their vision to life. After emailing several kitchen showrooms, Jeni chose the company whose approach she liked the best – The Main Company.
‘I wanted the kitchen to be classic without anything too faddy or fashionable. I wanted simple Shaker furniture in my favourite colour – navy. I like industrial, art deco, and mid-century styles and wanted to use quality, natural materials such as oak, copper and marble.’
Taking the time to understand Jeni’s vision and by using the latest modern technology, The Main Company was able to create a charming and unique kitchen, full of character. The chosen Shaker kitchen exudes personality, incorporating dramatic inky hues, a gleaming aged copper splashback and drawer handles and striking white marble work surfaces. Having spotted their hand-aged reclaimed engineered oak breakfast bar in the showroom, Jeni fell instantly in love with it. The modern boxy shape was the perfect design to complement the room and the oiled oak parquet floor provided a practical yet trendy finish.
Jeni said ‘the kitchen is brilliant – an improved version of my original design. The Main Company has created an ideal combination of funky and functional; incorporating salvaged and reclaimed materials with modern splashes throughout.’
The open-plan nature of the room makes it a great kitchen for entertaining guests or relaxing with the family and the bi-fold doors leading to the garden create an ideal indoor/outdoor vibe.
The Rushmere kitchen sits perfectly with The Main Company’s ethos for creating kitchens full of personality and charm.
