Our Reclaimed Rustic Look
“I remember the agent cooing over the swimming pool, but all I could think was what a wonderful space it would make for a massive kitchen diner with room for family and friends.” Charlie McLaughlin, homeowner
From a disused swimming pool to the hub of the home, the Cambridge kitchen was a fantastic project to get our teeth into. From insulating the old building, to filling in the pool and installing a false door, this kitchen was transformed from a disused swimming pool space to the rustic industrial kitchen that the homeowners had always desired.
With the homeowner Charlie in charge of her own catering business, the kitchen was an important place not only for family living but also for work. With various ingredients in constant use, a key requirement from the homeowners was the creation of slab doors that are incredibly easy to maintain and resist dust on the surface.
Unlike many of the kitchens you see today, each Main Company kitchen is created bespoke to the homeowners requirements. Keen to move away from the norm, we injected some industrial elements into the space, which when combined with the reclaimed oak really gave the space its own individual look.
As with many kitchens, over time they become susceptible to clutter and with a busy family life in full swing, storage was a top priority for the homeowners. From the creation of a sliding pantry door to the bespoke aluminum tambour door these simple storage solutions ensured that the worktops remained clutter free with everything in its rightful place.
The Cambridge Kitchen was featured in the November issue of Country Homes & Interiors, explore more details about the project on our website here.
