Dating back to around 1860, once upon a time, this property was the Gate House to a Victorian Estate that was once taken over by the Navy during World War 2, with this building serving as the Military Police Station. The stunning home is oozing with history and characterful features has been completely renovated to create a beautiful family home.
The four-bedroom, Grade II listed detached cottage offers outstanding accommodation. The property boasts high ceilings, as well as intricate details such as cornice and exposed brick. When renovating the property, one of the most important things was a large family room; a home office was also added because of all the new working from home instructions. Warm décor and careful interior planning and styling have created a welcoming and cosy feel to the home.
With the exception of the kitchen, The Main Company installed Antique Distillery Oak flooring throughout the downstairs. The planks were supplied in a fixed 220mm width and flow seamlessly from room to room.
Our Antique Distillery Oak is perfect for those looking to add both warmth and a rustic feel to their space. The Oak combines both cool and warm tones, with a darker patina and characterful knots and markings. The wood is not only aesthetically pleasing; it is also sympathetic to the age of the property.
Each and every plank by The Main Company has been carefully selected and salvaged from a variety of interesting buildings, from old distilleries to old schools. The planks are then carefully restored and enhanced by our master craftsmen at our family-run workshop, nestled in the tumbling hills of Yorkshire. Our Antique Distillery Oak has been aged using a variety of subtle techniques, as well as treated with Hybrid Oil, to create a long-lasting and durable surface.
