Nestled in the glorious location of Haslemere, Surrey, this Grade II listed home has been carefully renovated to create this beautiful family home. Dating back to around 1860, it is believed that this former Gate House was once two buildings that were converted into one, and used as a Military Police Station during World War Two. As part of the renovation, the property was gutted throughout, with the homeowners undertaking a whole refit, as well as a new roof and structural work. The end result is this inviting and characterful home, with an array of enviable features and picture-perfect décor.
The Main Company worked with the homeowners, supplying not only the flooring for the downstairs but the kitchen too. As the property is old and has any quirks, they decided a bespoke kitchen would be their best option, as straight walls are few and far between. Whilst renovating the property, it was important to create areas that the family could enjoy, and the kitchen was designed with this in mind.
The homeowners opted for a shaker style kitchen that has been further enhanced using an array of accessories, and finished with a Little Greene Company paint called Harley Green. This sumptuous green shade offers depth and richness, and the classic shade is timeless. Whilst the green cabinetry is striking, it has been counteracted and enhanced by the addition of copper splashes, from Buster and Punch handles, to the aged brass that adorns the kitchen island. Reclaimed Oak has also been used to further complement the cabinets, with the addition of a larder, and cladded window seat. The combination of natural materials creates a really luxurious appearance and premium feel to the space.
Whilst the kitchen looks idyllic and works with the characterful surroundings, modern additions such as a wine cooler and Lacanche stove have also been added, creating the perfect combination of old and new. The cabinets were topped with a Quartz Calacatta Imperial white worktop, and as with the cabinets will stand the test of time.
We worked closely with the homeowners to ensure that their kitchen not only looked great but was a functional space too. From drawer inserts to exposed shelving, it’s important that you have exactly what you need. This kitchen combines everything we love and are passionate about, and it was a joy to see it come to life. All of our materials are carefully selected, and handcrafted at our family-run Yorkshire workshop, and are not only durable and hardwearing but improve with age too.
