Kitchen Trends 2021: A Shift In Focus

There’s no denying that 2020 increased the importance of home life like never before. Our kitchens have become the most multifunctional spaces in our homes. From make shift offices to living room extensions, kitchen space is evolving like never before.

The aesthetic of a kitchen is always paramount, however through 2021 we’ve seen an ever increasing focus on the day to day operation of a kitchen. Not only the flow round a kitchen space, but the individual elements you can incorporate to make daily living that bit simpler.

1.       Multi Functional Taps

I’m sure most of us are aware of boiling water taps, super convenient, boiling water on demand. What we’ve seen recently is taking the boiling water taps one step further. The Quooker CUBE provides hot, cold, boiling, chilled and even sparkling water on demand. It saves time and space, and also means you no longer need to use plastic bottles

2.       Downdraft Extractors

You may remember that we partnered with BORA back in 2020. They are the pioneers of hobs with an integrated downdraft extraction. This design allows a kitchen space to feel much more open, in some ways less kitchen like as you no longer require a hood hanging on the wall.

3.       Floating Shelves

Like with the BORA downdraft extractions, people are opting for open shelving to make the kitchen feel more spacious . Not only that, open shelves allow for quick access to the most important items and they can be constantly adapted with the new ever changing kitchen environment.

4.       Concealed Appliances

There’s an abundance of technology and appliances for our kitchens in 2021, yet we don’t want to necessarily always have them on display. We’ve designed and manufactured units specifically to tackle this problem, with easy access when required but out of sight when not.

5.       Clever Storage

Space is at a premium, therefore compact design in kitchens can give you that much needed additional storage required.  No one likes clutter, and the kitchen is a space that can’t be confusing to navigate, so thinking about all the items in your kitchen and where they will be stored is often the key to success. From slim bookcases in island ends, wine racks behind unit voids, and hidden under-counter storage, we’ve made functionality from dead space.
