Shaun stands in his bespoke kitchen

Bespoke Kitchen Project 64 – East Witton

A Bespoke Kitchen for Renowned Chef Shaun Rankin

Designing a kitchen for a professional chef is no ordinary task; it requires a perfect balance of functionality, efficiency, and aesthetics. When we had the opportunity to create a bespoke kitchen for Michelin-starred chef Shaun Rankin, we knew it had to be more than just a beautiful space. It had to be a kitchen designed for precision, workflow, and creativity, seamlessly blending professional-level practicality with the warmth of a home kitchen.

A Unique Four-Wall Design

Unlike traditional layouts, Shaun’s kitchen is designed as an all-encompassing four-wall space, maximising every inch for efficiency while keeping the kitchen open and inviting. At the centre of the space sits a cosy yet highly functional island, tying the entire design together. More than just a feature piece, it serves as a gathering point, a prep area, and additional storage, all in one. Thoughtfully designed seating allows for both relaxed conversations and quick meals, making it an essential part of the kitchen.

This project combines the Reena Simon range in oak paired with Little Greene’s French Grey 113 and Livid 263 shaker-style cabinets, finished with Corston handles and complemented by a stunning Moorland Fog Quartz from Caesarstone. The Reena Simon range was the perfect fit for this project, with Shaun drawn to the light and airy feel of the oak and the elegance of fluted glass.

Function Meets Efficiency

Every detail of the kitchen was designed with the cooking process in mind. Each wall serves a specific purpose, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow:

  • Cooking & Prep Wall – A dedicated space featuring a state-of-the-art induction hob, surrounded by ample storage and prep areas, allowing for effortless movement while cooking.
  • Oven Wall – A dedicated area housing built-in ovens, ensuring easy access and optimal placement for multi-tasking.
  • Wood-Clad Display Wall – A beautifully clad feature wall with a slim display shelf and a runner, flanked by windows to bring in natural light.
  • Wet Area – The sink station is designed for seamless clean-up, strategically positioned to keep the workspace uncluttered.
  • Modern Integration – The external wall features a built-in wine cooler, a standout addition that showcases how modern appliances can seamlessly blend into a traditionally styled kitchen.

Designed for Performance & Style

This kitchen is a true reflection of Shaun Rankin’s culinary expertise and appreciation for design. The layout ensures that every stage of cooking, from prep to plating, is effortless, with a focus on keeping surfaces clear and storage accessible. The result? A space that embodies the best of both worlds, a high-performance kitchen wrapped in timeless elegance.
