A truly breathtaking family home, this 17th century detached home oozes charm and character. The house renovation took place during the first Covid lockdown, with The Main Company supplying a bespoke kitchen, cladding, boot room area and flooring.

It was important to the homeowners that the aesthetic of the property complemented the era of the home, tying in with the exposed beams and other unique features the home has to offer.
Thanks to light and airy feel of the property, the homeowners were able to make a bold statement with a stylish navy and grey kitchen, with exposed oak elements throughout. The on-trend kitchen was the perfect way to combine old and new. As well as the stunning colour palette, splashes of wood were used throughout, contrasting the navy and grey perfectly. The Main Company also fitted a feature wall in the boot room area using reclaimed oak and this ties the space together seamlessly.
To finish off the renovation, our Reclaimed Barn Oak was chosen for the flooring, this runs throughout the entire living space and provides a hardwearing and durable surface, and provides continuity.
Our Reclaimed Barn Oak is perfect for this space thanks to the variety of colours and tones in each plank. Salvaged from old agricultural barns, each plank has been beautifully weathered creating a stunning silver tint, this complements the colours used for the cabinets. As well as the colour of the planks, the imperfections of the wood lend themselves beautifully to this 17th century property, with the patina, knots and cracks adding plenty of character.
Each and every plank has been restored and enhanced by our master craftsmen at our workshop in the heart of Yorkshire. Dried in our on-site kiln, each plank is then hand finished with a raw lacquer to create a strong and durable surface.
This beautifully weathered wood creates the perfect base for this beautiful family home, complementing the surroundings and tying together the space perfectly. Thanks to the high quality finish, the flooring will get better with age and last for many years to come.
