In collaboration with Andreas Andreou of Hatch & Mason, we combined light oak cabinetry with a striking book-matched stone island and backsplash. The natural veining of the stone adds movement and character, while the pared-back cabinetry, handle-less and minimal allows the materials to shine.

Open shelving replaces traditional wall units, keeping the kitchen feeling light and inviting, while offering space to showcase personal touches. The perimeter of the kitchen is softened with open shelving, styled with ceramics, glassware, and greenery, a detail that keeps the space feeling light, personal, and lived-in.
At the heart of the space is the kitchen island. More than a preparation space, the island acts as the central hub of the home. A place for cooking, casual dining, and social connection. Its generous proportions tie together the stone surfaces and warm wood cabinetry, while the addition of stools invites people to gather around. Positioned between the functional kitchen zone and the dining area, the island seamlessly links both spaces, making it the true anchor of the design.
A standout feature of this project is the lattice (jali) wall, designed by Hatch & Mason. Originating in South Asian and Middle Eastern architecture, a jali is a perforated screen, traditionally carved in stone or wood, that filters light, encourages airflow, and creates privacy while maintaining openness. Here, the modern jali detail introduces a soft play of light and shadow into the interior, blurring the boundary between indoors and out. Its crafted quality adds depth and texture, enriching the kitchen’s contemporary lines with a sense of history and cultural resonance.
At The Main Company, we believe in creating spaces that are not only functional but deeply distinctive, ensuring every home reflects the character and lifestyle of the people who live in it.
